Hydrogen gas is used as a cooling medium in the turbine generators. The gas is used because of its thermal conductivity and very properties. To meet the hydrogen requirements at Medupi Power Station, there is an Eskom strategic decision that hydrogen shall be produced and stored on site. The gas produced shall be of high purity, required volumes and bulk storage to ensure safety
